Consistent and reliable availability
Our lush organic avocados are available from February through to October. The secret to our uncommonly high availability lies in our widespread network, which covers 325 sprawling hectares across three of Kenya’s unique ecological zones. Our rich and creamy avocados are ready from February to May in the coffee zone. The middle zones see plentiful harvests from April to July, while the tea highland zones come to fruition from July to October. Between these three zones, we’re more than able to serve the high demands of our worldwide clientele.
As for our exotic purple passionfruit’s delightfully tangy taste and bursting texture is available from October to April. Like our avocados, they are grown under the apex of organic farming practices and meet all size standards and regulations.

Across our flourishing network of hundreds of smallholder farmers, one shared goal reigns supreme; achieving the pinnacle of organic produce. Motivated by this mission, all our products – from in-conversion avocados to organic purple passionfruit – have achieved all relevant certifications and meet all applicable standards.
28km north of Nairobi, in the bustling town of Ruiru, lies our certified and FSSC22000-accredited packhouse. From the moment our seedlings are planted, to the moment our fruits are packed with care, peak manufacturing practices (HACCP) are maintained at all times. Ensuring every product of Mavuno adheres to internationally recognised food quality and safety standards.
Standards our products have accomplished include GlobalGap, Grasp, Spring, Non-EU Organic Agriculture and SMETA. We’re also ecstatic to share that, in the second quarter of 2024, Fairtrade avocados will also be available here at Mavuno.

From the fork back to the field, each product of Mavuno can be traced directly to the farm that first nurtured it into being. This is all core to our commitment to visibility, transparency and authenticity. All are part of the Mavuno guarantee of organic excellence.

We take an unconventionally rigorous approach to caring for our team. At Mavuno, we’ve implemented several initiatives and programmes, targeted at boosting our team’s health, wellbeing and income. This level of care is unique within our industry, and its outstanding results are the ultimate proof of its efficacy.
Through our Living Wages Initiative, we ensure our employees have the income to support their families and live on their terms. We collaborated with Eosta BV Netherlands, one of our brilliant importer partners, to bring this programme to life. Because of this, today, all our workers – from the field to the factory – earn over 30% more than the legal minimum wage. This makes us the first company in the world to produce Living Wage avocados.
