Kenya’s Harvest Advantage
While most countries like Mexico and Peru are off season, Kenya is in full harvest mode. Our avocado season runs from March to October, filling the supply gap when others can not deliver. This means our fruit reaches China when it’s needed most, keeping shelves stocked and customers satisfied.
Short Transit Time, Better Quality
Kenya offers a clear edge in avocado exports to China because of faster shipping. Unlike Peru or Chile, Kenya is closer to Asia. As a result, Kenyan avocados reach China in just 29 days by sea. In contrast, Peru takes 72 days, and Chile 66.
This shorter shipping time makes a big difference. The fruit stays fresh, firm and flavorful. It also arrives with a longer shelf life giving retailers more selling time and customers a better eating experience.
Kenya-China Avocado Export Agreement
In 2022, Kenya secured full approval to export fresh Hass avocados to China. It became the first African country to gain access to the Chinese fresh fruit market. This deal opened new opportunities for Kenya’s avocado farmers and exporters.
Since then, Kenya and China have worked closely to maintain high export standards. Kenya follows strict phytosanitary rules, cold chain management, and traceability protocols. As a result, Kenyan avocados meet China’s quality and safety requirements.
This trade agreement strengthens ties between the two nations and boosts Kenya’s position as a reliable supplier of premium avocados.
